Faculty of Education
The main objective of the Faculty of Education
is to produce trained teachers, education specialists, education planners,
supervisors, curriculum designers and educational administrators.
The Objectives of this Faculty are:

To
institutionalize teacher development activities in the country;
·
To
produce trained teachers
·
To
produce teacher educators, education specialist, educational planners,
supervisors and education administrators.
The Faculty runs two types of academic programs General
Education and Vocational Education. Under General Education, currently, the
Faculty runs Two-Years Proficiency Certificate (I.Ed.),
Three-Year Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.), One-Year Bachelor
of Education (B.Ed.) and Two-Year Master in Education
(M.Ed.) programs. Besides, the Faculty has been running M.Phil
in Education programs for the last three years. M.Phil.
programs in other area are in pipeline. The Faculty also offers Doctor of
Philosophy (Ph.D.) programs of three years' duration.
English Language Education, Nepali Language
Education, Mathematics Education, Science Education, Health Education and
Physical Education, Geography Education, History Education, Economics Education,
Political Science Education etc are common specialization areas for I.Ed .to M.Ed. levels, whereas under Vocational Education
specialization, Business Education, Industrial Education and Home Science are
offered up to B.Ed. level. Under General Education,
Curriculum and Evaluation; and Educational Planning and Management are offered
at M.Ed. level only and Vocational Education has no M.Ed. programme.
Early Childhood Development Primary Education and Special Needs Education &
Population Education are offered at Bachelor's level only. Both the B.Ed. programs are single subject specializations with
focus on professional skills. There are also elective courses and interdisciplinary
courses for interdisciplinary areas. In order to devise, develop and review the
academic courses from time to time there are different subject committees under
the FOE. At present there are 15 subject committees to cater for the academic activities
in the concerned areas.

(a) ICTE courses
for the secondary school teachers (1yr. and 3 yr. B.Ed.)
(b) ICT awareness programs (basic literacy)
(c) One yr. TPC for the non-PCL degree are in pipeline; to
be introduced shortly. Moreover, the courses of 3 year B.Ed.;
1 year B.Ed., 2 year M.Ed.; and M.Phil.
Programs are undergoing revision process.
